Robert Lloyd Jenkins
September 1, 1950   -   October 19 , 2013

Obituary posted by : Teresa Timblin ,  Daughter
Person Description:
Robert Lloyd Jenkins, beloved son, brother, father, and friend, entered into rest on October 19, 2013.
Robert was born on September 1, 1950, the fourth child of ten, to Sidney and Marguerite, in Carbondale, Illinois, and grew up in Melrose Park, Illinois. He was a graduate of East Leyden High School. After two years of college, Robert enlisted into the United States Navy in 1972 and would serve his country for eight years, mostly serving on board the U.S.S. Nimitz. On July 1, 1973, Robert married his first wife, Diane DeSantis, and had two children, Scott and Teresa. After being honorably discharged in 1980, Robert moved his family to Arizona, where he began work as a senior advisory chemist at the Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station, from which he would retire in 2007. Robert met his second wife, Joann Reagan, in 1997, and they were married on March 31, 2004. Robert enjoyed his retirement and his time with his family, celebrating his children\'s weddings, the birth of his grandson William, and pursuing his hobby of woodworking and architecture.
Robert was a wonderful man, with a rich sense of humor, a gentle spirit, remarkable kindness, and an utter devotion to his family. His loss is deeply felt.
Robert is survived by his wife, Joann; son Scott (Tonya); daughter Teresa (Leroy); step-daughter Liz and her son William; parents Sidney and Marguerite; sisters Helen, Linda (John), Patricia, and Pegi (Paul); brothers Ken (Pilar), Paul (Jean), Richard, Sidney (Phyllis), and Phillip (Cindy); and countless nieces and nephews. In memory of Robert, please consider a donation to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
We love and miss you so much.
