Asher Slate
April 05, 1994   -   June 06 , 2013

Obituary posted by : Marilyn Hilton ,  Aunt
Person Description:
Asher was a 19 year old aspiring choral director. From New York, after he graduated high school, he moved out towards Missouri to pursue his dream as a choir teacher. He was also involved deeply with his community, and temple, as well as volunteering in distant communities if needed. One of his favourite quote was \"It\'s better to be absolutely ridiculous, than absolutely boring.\" said by Marilyn Monroe. Asher was found deceased by the O\'Fallon Police department Thursday night, after a frantic 911 call from his mother. \"It was the most horrific event that I\'ve ever witnessed.\" said his mother, Lee Williams. \"He\'d said that he would do it so many times, and never did, so I just didn\'t believe it.\" said his younger brother. He had overdosed on Fentanyl patches during the night, leaving a note that stated \"The pain is too much to bear, and I can\'t do this anymore.\" The O\'Fallon Police Department believes there was no foul play involved. However, they are interviewing students who were close to Asher, to get a better outlook on his family and social life.
Service Information:
There will be a service for Asher on Monday, June 10th at 11:45 AM at the Temple Beth-Israel, Synagogue located at 225 North High Street, Belleville, Illinois. All memorial donations can be made to the Trevor Project, which is an alliance to help end suicide in LGBTQ teens throughout the world.

My prayers and thoughts are with you and your family. How wonderful the time will be when God\'s promise at Revelation 21:4-is fulfilled which states, \"And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away\".
