May the loving memories of George live on. They, who live in our hearts and our memories, live forever. He sustained me though my most difficult and darkest moments. He supported me when I was right and he chastised me when I messed up. Kind, gentle, brutally honest, always focused, and always smiling. He was like a brother I never had. I will miss him.

I am deeply saddened by the loss of not only a teammate but good friend. George and I worked together for many years and he was always someone I could go to for anything that I needed. We were joking just the other day about comparing back surgery scars - I just wish we had that opportunity. George will be sorely missed, but never forgotten. Eric & Nicole

George was and will always be known as a beautiful person, a loving father, a good friend, an exceptional team member, giving, dedicated, etc.......
My tendonitis will flair up before I finish describing him.
We are lucky to have had him in our lives and we are fortunate to have him in our memories.
You will be greatly missed.

George was a gift to me in my many years with the MCI family and since. I'll never forget when he dressed up for Halloween as a Greek god (or something like that). I didn't know he had it in him and he was quite the hit (imagine the big George smile)! When I reflect back, I think of a very smart and strong man with an addictive grin, someone who was committed and loyal. He was a very proud friend, dad and partner. Our faith is tested when we lose someone so young, but remember that he just received his crown sooner than we did. While we're empty, he's now filled with blessings!

Let’s be thankful for all the special moments that George has left us. He worked hard, played hard, and readily shared his infectious smile. We spend so much time at work struggling together to overcome the latest crazy issue, we become forged into one anothers lives. For me, my image of him will always be that smile.

Working the early shift with George gave us the opportunity to share a cup of coffee or tea and have animated conversations about work, politics, and family. Through these conversations I got to know George as a dedicated worker, a go to guy, a family man, an outstanding person. You will be missed buddy.

George touched each of our lives in such a positive way. His warm smile, hearty laugh, and true compassion for others added such color, value, and true meaning to our lives. A remarkable friend and father, he has shown us through his example how to enhance and brighten each others lives. Thank you George. You will remain with each of us forever.

May the peace of God be with the family and friends of George. I will always remember his cheerful greetings to me each day and how he always beat me leave work for the day.

It was such an honor to have known and worked with George. Not only did he have a great work ethic, the knowledge and devotion to a job well done, he was honest, compassionate and a very nice man. He always knew how to make me smile even on the most trying days at MCI. His smile was contagious and I never walked away from the NRM without a smile on my face. God Bless and Rest in Peace, George. You will be missed.

When I worked for MCI/Verizon Business I had many chats with George out in the smoking area. I am truley going to miss him he was a kind and good hearted man. Any body that took the time to know him would know that he was very wise and funny guy. He always knew how to make me smile when I was down or upset. To George I will see you again, make sure you save a seat for me and we can chat again some day. :)
To his family my condolences go out to each ane every one of you.

George was one of the kindest, gentlest soul anyone could ever meet. He was the oil that lubricated the engine of our workplace day in and day out. Thank you George, I am better off to have had you in my life.

When I think of George he always brings a smile to my face. Not one day went by at work when he didn't make me smile. He always had kind words and was so generous with them. I will miss him dearly!

There were so many things that I loved about George. We had the best conversations. I always felt heard, and understood. George had the greatest laugh. I will never forget the moments of laughter we shared. When things got tough, there was something about the laughter that made things so much easier. He made it so very clear that he loved his family and his friends. It has been a privilege to know him and he will never be forgotten.

A man's success is not measured by what he acquired during his lifetime but rather what he contributed to others! If this statement is true, then George will live on in everyone he touched in life. I had so many conversations over the years with George and he was one of the best "listeners" I have ever encountered. He always had time to not only listen but to share such heartfelt wisdom. I will miss seeing George's car in the parking ramp each morning and wondering who would be the first to arrive at Fiddlers. If the lights were on, I knew George beat me to work but the light he leaves behind will be with me always. God Bless YOU George and my deepest sympathies go out to Ray and your family.

Thank you Alex and Steve for setting up this webpage in George's memory. Thank you to each of you who has recorded your memory of George. George was my life -my every day, my every moment - and, even though our 11 year journey together ended abruptly on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at 2:06PM, George and I will always be one. George's capacity for loving was boundless. I know that the love we shared is the bridge across which he and I will walk to embrace one another and be with one another again. Please always remember him. Thank you for loving him, dear friends of my Beloved. Thank you.

I respected the man learned a lot from him. He was one of the folks that reminded me to check my work and to learn new things.
I will miss him at 5am coming to keep me company in the NOC when I open on my own, His humble way of teaching me various Microsoft programs.
I will miss his Comments and his questions to challenge the Norms in the Team meetings and morning huddles, he was a master of asking who, what, when, where, why’s and how’s.
R.I.P my friend,
Abner Portillo (AB)

The Bible says "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord" George was truly a good, kind man who lived his life for others. I will forever treasure our friendship and moments of encouragement, advice, and laughter. I was George's trainer when he first came to MCI and down through the years he never let any of us down. What a blessing to have had him in my life.

George was a great co-worker and was always ready for the next challenge. He always pushed the rest of us to become better at our jobs. Most of all, I remember George as a great father, worried about his son growing so fast. I always admired how his face would light up when talking about his son - his pride and joy.

Where do I go from here? Without my Beloved? Without my everyday? Forward.
I cannot go back to the moment
I last saw him lying breathless,
unresponsive to my kisses,
unmoved by my tears on his face
nor to the warmth of my hands
begging for his smile.
Forward....to the moment we
embrace again
and again know the union
of our souls
the oneness of our beath
the peace of just being.
This was our greatest desire.
This is the fire
of love.

Thank you to everyone who has shared their memories of my father. Not only was he my father, but my best friend. At times I don't know what to do with myself and I feel like giving up but I know that he would want me to press on and move fowared with my life. I know that he is watching over me because of certain things that have happened to me recently. Thank you again and Ray I will try and talk to you soon

George joined my life in 1999 and has never left. I will never be able to go to Starbucks without thinking of our walks & talks on our way. He always ordered his Tall Vanilla Latte & preferred it with "no foam". We would talk about everything from work to past relationships to current relationships & our future dreams.
I knew him first as an employee of MCI/Worldcom/Verizon - he took everything in stride. He worked hard to ensure his best in everything he did from work to friendships. He was always giving & never expected anything in return. I hope I can live by his example.
I will never forget our last time together at J’s - I came into Denver the week before and spent all Sunday afternoon catching up. He was so proud of Brandon & looking forward to seeing his graduation in San Antonio. He even brought some current pictures for me to see. He truly loved Ray (who was his sole mate) and had a glimmer in his eyes every time he talked about him.
I love you George & miss you - but can't wait to see your smiling face in Heaven

Whoever wants to get together at our place for a potluck/BBQ or just to get together to talk, please let me know. I am free (no doctoral classes) from June 17-23. I am working on getting our house phone operating again - I have to get an ethernet cable (imagine! George would be surprised his techno-handicapped hubba may be accommodating the 21st century) - hopefully by the end of this week (6/6/08). You can give it a call - 720-748-2868 - or call me at either other number: 303-919-6473 (cp) or 720-859-7958 (office). Last night and today have been very hard times for me. I cannot believe my Beloved is not here. Thank you all for your remembrances of George.
